2short.ai (people also search for it as 2shorts ai or 2short ai) is an AI tool that turns long YouTube videos into short clips. Its free Starter plan lists 30 minutes of AI video analysis a month, and the paid plans are $9.90 for 5 hours, $19.90 for 15 hours and $49.90 for 50 hours. That works out to about $0.033, $0.022 and $0.017 per minute of source video, which is cheaper than our Starter and Pro plans at the same steps.
Disclosure: I run ScaleReach, which publishes this review and competes with 2short.ai. I did not pay for a 2short.ai plan, and I did not run my own videos through it for this post. There is no affiliate relationship. Everything below comes from 2short.ai’s own home page (its pricing, features and FAQ sections) and its public G2 page, read on 15 October 2026. Where 2short.ai beats us, I say so.
The 60-second verdict
Choose 2short.ai if your videos live on YouTube, you want a low price per source minute, and a clipper with no scheduler is fine. Pro gives 15 hours a month for $19.90.
Look elsewhere if you need Hindi (it is not among its 26 listed languages), publishing tools, a virality score or split-screen gameplay backgrounds. None of these appears on its pages.
Check first: the page gives the free plan as 30 minutes in one place and 15 in another, prices are monthly only, and the FAQ says it can only process videos with captions.
Bottom line: one of the cheapest ways to turn long YouTube videos into shorts, with fewer features around the clips. Test its free plan on one real video before you pay.
What is 2short.ai?
2short.ai is a web app at 2short.ai that extracts the best moments from long-form videos and exports them as short clips. Per its home page, it:
- Starts from a pasted YouTube link. Lite and higher plans also import from Google Drive and public URLs, and a banner on the page flags Google Drive import as new.
- Works from captions. The FAQ says it can “only process videos with captions” and that YouTube auto-generates them for most videos. It works best on spoken-word content such as podcasts, educational videos, commentary and product reviews.
- Keeps the active speaker centered with face tracking.
- Adds animated subtitles in one click.
- Exports in vertical, square and horizontal aspect ratios at 1080p, and says there are no watermarks.
- Includes editing and cropping tools for when automatic tracking is not enough, plus brand presets for logos and overlays.
How much does 2short.ai cost in 2026?

| Lite | $9.90/month | 5 hours | 60 minutes of fast server-side exports | Google Drive and public URLs |
| Pro | $19.90/month | 15 hours | Unlimited fast server-side exports | Google Drive and public URLs |

Source: 2short.ai/en/pricing (verified 2026-10-15). The page says every plan has full access to all features and that plans “mainly vary in AI video analysis hours”. Each paid card says “Everything in” the plan below it.
Three things to know before you plan around these numbers:
- The free allowance disagrees with itself. The Starter card says 30 minutes of AI video analysis a month. The banner at the bottom of the same page says the free plan gives 15 minutes. One of them is stale. I could not tell which.
- There is one price per plan. The page shows each price per month, and I found no yearly option or toggle on it.
- “Hours” is not defined. I read AI video analysis hours as hours of source video, because that is how other clippers count. 2short.ai does not say so.
Is 2short.ai free?
Yes. The Starter plan is free and lists “full access to all features”, 30 minutes of AI video analysis a month, and the ability to view and export clips already generated. It does not list file imports beyond a YouTube link, and it shows no credit card statement either way. Our own free offer is a one-time trial of free minutes rather than a monthly allowance, so for someone who clips one short video a month and wants to pay nothing, 2short.ai’s renewing allowance is the better deal if the 30-minute figure is the right one.
How does 2short.ai compare on cost per source minute?
Source minutes are the fairest unit, because every tool here charges by how much video you feed in. Converted at 60 minutes an hour.
| Plan | Price per month | Source minutes per month | Cost per source minute |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2short.ai Lite | $9.90 | 300 | about $0.033 |
| 2short.ai Pro | $19.90 | 900 | about $0.022 |
| 2short.ai Premium | $49.90 | 3,000 | about $0.017 |
| ScaleReach Starter | $10 annual, $12 monthly | 200 | about $0.05 annual, $0.06 monthly |
| ScaleReach Pro | $12.50 annual, $18 monthly | 400 | about $0.031 annual, $0.045 monthly |
| ScaleReach Agency | $49 annual, $99 monthly | 5,000 | about $0.010 annual, $0.020 monthly |
2short.ai rows from 2short.ai/en/pricing; ScaleReach rows from our pricing page, both verified 2026-10-15. For a wider table, see our cost per source minute comparison of Opus Clip alternatives.
2short.ai is cheaper per source minute than ScaleReach at the Starter and Pro steps. Our Agency plan on annual billing is cheaper than Premium. On monthly billing it is slightly dearer.
How good is 2short.ai’s clip selection?
I have not measured this, so here is what the vendor claims and what its users report.
- Selection. It reads the video’s captions to find engaging spoken moments and cuts them out. That is the same approach most tools in this category take, and it explains why the FAQ stresses spoken words.
- Framing. Face tracking keeps the speaker centered. Editing and cropping tools are there for the cases where it does not.
- User reports. G2 reviewers praise speed and ease, and say it removes the need for a separate editor. Their complaints repeat: the AI sometimes misses the context of a video and returns weak shorts that need manual editing, one finds the automatic editing cumbersome, with shaky transitions between clips and picks that are not always the most engaging, and one says you cannot generate unlimited shorts on any plan because every plan is capped in hours.
Which languages does 2short.ai support?
The FAQ lists 26: Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, French, Finnish, German, Greek, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Ukrainian. It says it is working to expand the list.
Hindi, Arabic and Chinese are not on it. ScaleReach transcribes 55 languages, including Hindi, and converts Hindi clips to Roman-letter Hinglish captions. If your audience is outside that 26, check this first.
What does 2short.ai not list?
None of the following appears in 2short.ai’s pricing, features or FAQ sections: a scheduler or direct publishing to social platforms, a virality score, split-screen gameplay backgrounds, dubbing or translation, or an API or MCP server. Absence from a page is not proof a feature does not exist, so ask support if one matters. But if you want to clip and post from one tool, the page does not promise that.
What do real users say about 2short.ai?
There is little public feedback, so be careful with any rating.
| Source | Rating | Sample |
|---|---|---|
| G2 | 4.5 out of 5 | 5 reviews, 4 marked as incentivized, newest 23 September 2025, oldest 24 January 2024 |
| Trustpilot | No page found | The review page for 2short.ai returned a not-found error |
Sources: G2, read 2026-10-15, and Trustpilot, checked the same day. Five reviews are too few to read as a score.

FAQ
Is 2short.ai free?
Yes. The free Starter plan lists 30 minutes of AI video analysis a month with full access to all features, and you can view and export clips already generated. The banner at the bottom of 2short.ai’s page says 15 minutes instead, so one figure is out of date. Paid plans start at $9.90 a month.
How much does 2short.ai cost?
Lite is $9.90 a month for 5 hours of AI video analysis, Pro is $19.90 for 15 hours and Premium is $49.90 for 50 hours. Prices are listed per month, and I found no yearly option. That is about $0.033, $0.022 and $0.017 per source minute, assuming an hour of analysis is an hour of source video.
Does 2short.ai work with videos that are not on YouTube?
Partly. The FAQ describes pasting a YouTube link and says it can only process videos with captions. The pricing cards list video imports from Google Drive and public URLs from Lite up. The free plan lists no import beyond YouTube. The page does not say how it handles a file that has no captions.
Does 2short.ai add a watermark?
I found no watermark mentioned on any plan. The features section says “goodbye to watermarks” and describes unlimited 1080p exports, and the Starter card says you can view and export generated clips. It does not state the free plan’s export terms separately, so test one export before you rely on it.
Which languages does 2short.ai support?
Twenty-six, listed in its FAQ: Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, French, Finnish, German, Greek, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Ukrainian. Hindi, Arabic and Chinese are not among them.
Is 2short.ai legit?
I did not audit it. It has a G2 page with 5 reviews, 4 of them marked incentivized and the newest from September 2025, and I found no Trustpilot page. A thin public history is a reason to try the free plan before you pay, and to read its privacy policy before you upload sensitive footage. I did not read it for this review.
The bottom line
On price, 2short.ai is hard to argue with: $19.90 for 15 hours is cheaper per source minute than our Pro plan, and its Lite plan undercuts our Starter. It covers the core clipping job, with face tracking, animated subtitles, three aspect ratios and 1080p exports.
The unknowns are the ones a pricing page cannot answer: whether the free plan is 30 minutes or 15, how it handles videos without captions, how clip quality holds up on your footage, and whether it will ever publish for you. Test one video on the free plan, then compare against the alternatives ranked by cost per source minute. If a number here looks wrong, tell us at hevin@scalereach.ai.
