Nearly everyone reframes to one ratio

Across 7,101 rendered clips measured on 27 July 2026, 96% came out as 9:16. Square took 84 clips and landscape 46. That is not a preference so much as a verdict: the short-form platforms that matter all want vertical, and multi-ratio export turns out to be a feature people ask for far more often than they use.

It matters for how you judge a reframing tool. The interesting question is not how many ratios it supports, it is how well it tracks a subject inside 9:16 when two people are talking and the camera does not move. A static centre crop handles a single presenter fine and fails the moment the interesting face is off to one side.

Our reframing follows the active speaker rather than the frame centre, and switches when the speaker changes. On a locked-off two-person interview shot that is the difference between a usable vertical clip and one where half the conversation happens off-screen. Where it still struggles: fast cuts between wide shots, and screen-share footage where the thing worth seeing is text rather than a face.
